I plan to move abroad - what will happen to my pension?
Your pension will not change when you move abroad. Moving abroad may have consequences for your tax situation. The Tax Authority’s (Belastingdienst) website contains more information about this (see: 'useful links' ).
You can also have your pension paid abroad. You yourself are liable to pay any bank charges associated with this.
Certificate of life The Pension Fund makes regular checks to determine whether pension beneficiaries are still alive. You will not notice anything of this within the Netherlands. If you reside in the Netherlands, the municipality automatically notifies the Pension Fund in the event of the decease of pension beneficiaries. This is not the case if you live abroad. |

Pension beneficiaries who live abroad therefore receive an annual request from the Pension Fund to provide proof they are alive (Certificate of life). You will receive a form in the post that you are required to complete and return. If the Pension Fund does not receive any reply following two reminders, the pension payments will be suspended. Healthcare insurance
If you move abroad, you will in many cases also have to take out insurance against the costs of healthcare abroad. If you receive an ex gratia contribution towards healthcare insurance from Shell, this will end if you no longer have healthcare insurance (Zorgverzekering) in the Netherlands.
