Wat daar over\u003Cb\u003E schone energieoplossingen\u003C/b\u003E, \u003Cb\u003Enieuwe ontwikkelingen\u003C/b\u003E, \u003Cb\u003E\u003Ci\u003Ebest practices\u003C/i\u003E en innovatieve ideeën\u003C/b\u003E wordt besproken, kan leiden tot nieuwe initiatieven uit de EU-lidstaten en uiteindelijk tot nieuw beleid voor iedere EU-burger.\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cb\u003EOngeveer 70% van de totale Nederlandse wet- en regelgeving komt oorspronkelijk van de EU, \u003C/b\u003Emaar de percentages verschillen afhankelijk van het onderwerp.\u003Cb\u003E W\u003C/b\u003Eie kijkt naar de wapenfeiten voor energie en milieu komt al gauw bij een mooi lijstje uit (zie kader met Top 5). De zonneparken, windparken op zee en ook schone stranden zijn er deels gekomen dankzij EU-stimulans in wetgeving en geld.\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Ch2\u003E\u003Cb\u003EGrensoverschrijdende energienetwerken  \u003C/b\u003E\u003C/h2\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003ENaast de vijf grootste wapenfeiten heeft de \u003Cb\u003EEU beleid\u003C/b\u003E gemaakt \u003Cb\u003Evoor leveringszekerheid en relatieve betaalbaarheid van energie voor haar burgers en bedrijven\u003C/b\u003E. Grensoverschrijdende energienetwerken worden ondersteund. Dit kan bijvoorbeeld de \u003Ca href=\"https://www.delta-rhine-corridor.com/nl?vid=d0884cc2819f4213a5ae7a53375d16e9\"\u003E\u003Cb\u003EDelta-Rijncorridor\u003C/b\u003E\u003C/a\u003E vooruit helpen. Dat moet op korte termijn waterstof naar industrieclusters in Nederland en Duitsland brengen, en vervolgens CO\u003Csub\u003E2\u003C/sub\u003E de andere kant uit transporteren naar opslag in lege gasvelden onder de Noordzee.\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003EMaar het kan ook \u003Cb\u003Etwee gemeenten aan weerszijden van een grens steunen om meer samen te werken\u003C/b\u003E. Zoals het Duitse Görlitz en het Poolse Zgorzelec doen, maar ook in Zuid-Limburg tot een initiatief leidt (zie kader \u003Ca href=\"#grens-energie\"\u003EEnergie tot over de grens\u003C/a\u003E).\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Ch2\u003E\u003Cb\u003ENatura 2000-gebieden\u003C/b\u003E\u003C/h2\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003EOp het gebied van \u003Cb\u003Ewaterkwaliteit \u003C/b\u003Eheeft de EU allerlei zaken voor elkaar gekregen. Van de kwaliteit van het zwemwater voor de kust tot die van de sloot om de hoek. Maar daarbij telt voor de EU vooral het grotere plaatje: hoe water, dieren en planten in een geheel het goed doen (ecosysteemgerichte aanpak). \u003Cb\u003EMet Natura 2000-gebieden worden vogels en leefomgevingen van dieren in heel Europa beschermd. In Nederland gaat het dan om 162 gebieden\u003C/b\u003E, zowel op land als op zee.\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003EDaar ging het tijdens Europese Duurzaamheidsweek niet echt over. Bewustwording vergroten en inspiratie voor meer opdoen, waren de belangrijkste uitgangspunten. Both no and yes. At the heart of the week are the Policy Sessions. What is discussed there—on clean energy solutions, new developments, best practices and innovative ideas—can lead to new initiatives from EU Member States and ultimately to new policies affecting every EU citizen.\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003EUp to 70% of all legislation and regulations in EU nations originally stem from the EU, although the exact proportion varies by subject. When looking at achievements in energy and the environment, one quickly arrives at an impressive list (see Top 5 box). Solar parks, offshore wind farms and even clean beaches have partly become reality thanks to EU incentives through legislation and funding.\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Ch3\u003ECross-border energy networks\u003C/h3\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003EIn addition to these major achievements, the EU has developed policies aimed at ensuring security of supply and maintaining the relative affordability of energy for citizens and businesses. Cross-border energy networks are actively supported. This could, for example, help advance \u003Ca title=\"Delta-Rhine Corridor\" aria-label=\"Delta-Rhine Corridor\" href=\"https://www.delta-rhine-corridor.com/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"\u003E\u003Cb\u003Ethe Delta–Rhine Corridor\u003C/b\u003E\u003C/a\u003E, which in the short term is intended to transport hydrogen to industrial clusters in the Netherlands and Germany, and subsequently move CO\u003Csub\u003E2\u003C/sub\u003E in the opposite direction for storage in depleted gas fields beneath the North Sea.\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003EIt can also support cooperation between municipalities on either side of a border—for instance, the collaboration between the German city of Görlitz and the Polish town of Zgorzelec, as well as initiatives emerging in the south of Limburg in the Netherlands (\u003Ca href=\"#border-energy\"\u003Esee box: Energy across borders\u003C/a\u003E).\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Ch3\u003ENatura 2000 areas\u003C/h3\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003EIn terms of water quality, the EU has achieved a great deal — from coastal bathing water to the quality of local ditches and streams. However, the EU primarily focuses on the bigger picture: the overall health of ecosystems, including water, animals and plants. Through Natura 2000 areas, bird species and habitats across Europe are protected. In the Netherlands, this concerns 162 designated sites, both on land and at sea.\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThese topics were not central during European Sustainable Energy Week. Instead, the main objectives were raising awareness and providing inspiration.
