Industriële chemicaliën zitten in talloze dagelijkse producten, al zie je ze niet altijd.
We gebruiken ze in allerhande spullen: van telefoons tot textiel en schoonmaakmiddelen, van matrassen tot verpakkingsmateriaal en kleding. En we vinden ze terug in producten die we gebruiken in fabrieken en ziekenhuizen, op bouwplaatsen en boerderijen – van pijpleidingen tot ramen en kabels, van kunstmest tot machines en medische apparatuur.
Deze producten kunnen de maatschappij bovendien helpen om te reageren op klimaatverandering, bijvoorbeeld door dat ze thuis energie besparen. Zo staan chemicaliën aan de basis van isolatiematerialen en schoonmaakmiddelen die op een lage temperatuur werken. Ook lichtgewicht materiaal in auto’s en vliegtuigen, moderne banden en speciale toevoegingen in de brandstoffen helpen ons allemaal energie te besparen. En niet te vergeten: chemische componenten zitten in zonnepanelen en windmolens.
