Innovatieve infrarood camera op Shell Moerdijk
13 jan. 2020

Followed by a shot from below a tall chimney with a crane standing next to it.
[Voice of Chris van der Beek]
We are at Shell Moerdijk.

Title reads: Chris van der Beek, Manufacturing Excellence Manager
[Voice of Chris van der Beek]
We’ve just mounted a super sensitive infrared camera onto a chimney.

Close up of the camera on top of the chimney, followed by computer screens showing the data captured from the camera.
[Voice of Chris van der Beek]
With this camera, we are able to detect leakages at a very early stage.
Staff watching the footage of the camera on a big screen. Followed by an aerial shot of Moerdijk and a far away shot of Moerdijk.
[Voice of Chris van der Beek]
This is important for our staff, environment and neighbours.

Close up of the infrared camera panning.
[Voice of Mike Hu]
The super sensitive infrared camera measures infrared light. That is made up of many wavelengths…

…which change depending on the gas in the air. As the wavelengths are absorbed, the analyser will recognise…

…which gasses are in the air. That way the operators can intervene in case of a gas leakage.
Mike Hu talking to the camera followed by a close up of the camera and an aerial shot around the camera.
[Voice of Chris van der Beek]
It is a new innovation, even for Shell. That is why we are happy to test it out here. We will learn a lot from it and it will give the opportunity for staff here at Moerdijk to use this to improve their work.
Chris van der Beek talking to the camera followed by a series of shots showing the camera on the chimney. Ending with an aerial shot Moerdijk zooming out.
