Tips voor een succesvolle sollicitatie
Hier vind je informatie over de stappen en procedures waarmee je te maken krijgt wanneer je solliciteert bij Shell, en enkele tips om je sollicitatie succesvol te laten verlopen.
Haal het maximale uit je cv
Je cv is een belangrijk element in elke sollicitatieprocedure. Het is het podium waarop je jezelf presenteert en laat zien wat je hebt bereikt.
Dit zijn enkele handige tips die je kunnen helpen om jezelf zo goed mogelijk neer te zetten:
- Zorg dat je cv up-to-date is
- Probeer je te beperken tot twee A4'tjes en gebruik een eenvoudige lay-out
- Gebruik kopjes als 'Opleiding' en 'Loopbaan' om de verschillende onderdelen te markeren
- Doe geen algemene uitspraken over jezelf, maar leg bijvoorbeeld uit wat je hebt gedaan. Op die manier onderbouw je je kwaliteiten
- Probeer je vaardigheden en ervaringen te koppelen aan de vereisten van de functie waarop je solliciteert
- Zorg dat je LinkedIn-profiel is bijgewerkt, want dan ben je sneller klaar met het invullen van het sollicitatieformulier.
Persoonlijke gegevens: Je volledige naam, e-mailadres en telefoonnummer zijn het belangrijkst. Zorg dat de volledige naam die je opgeeft, exact overeenkomt met die in andere officiële documenten.
Informatie over je opleiding: Vermeld je opleidingen in omgekeerd chronologische volgorde, zodat de opleiding die je het laatst hebt gevolgd, bovenaan staat. Vermeld bij elke opleiding de naam van de instelling, de periode waarin je daar studeerde, en de kwalificaties die je hebt behaald, of die je gaat behalen wanneer je bent afgestudeerd. Vermeld eventueel relevante modules, projecten en proefschriften die je hebt afgerond, cijfers die je hebt behaald, en professionele vaardigheden die je hebt opgedaan.
Loopbaan en werkervaring: Alle werkervaring telt, ongeacht of het gaat om betaald werk, vrijwilligerswerk of stages. Geef deze in omgekeerd chronologische volgorde op. Zet de datums erbij om aan te geven hoe lang je in een bepaalde functie werkzaam was. Geef aan wat je hebt bereikt en welke vaardigheden je hebt ontwikkeld.
Prestaties en andere interesses: Met deze informatie laat je zien dat je een evenwichtig persoon bent met een brede kijk op het leven. Richt je op recente voorbeelden, beschrijf je bijdragen en wat je hebt geleerd, en hoe je dat hebt gedaan.

Hi, I’m Deanna. Welcome to Shell. Today, I’m going to take you through the steps for applying to the Shell Graduate Programme. Just some tips from me before we start.

When you’re ready the next step is the application form which takes about 10 minutes to complete. If you’re on LinkedIn save time by simply pulling across your profile.

After you have submitted your online application, you’ll go through to Stage 1 where you are asked to complete four online assessments. You’ll get an email to guide you through this, but in a nutshell, these are games that measure various cognitive abilities and your working style preferences by presenting you with different challenges. You’ll need to accomplish these online assessments within 5 days of receiving them.

Applicants who are successfully shortlisted will then receive an email inviting them to progress to the On-Demand Video Interview, a self-recorded video submission.

Fase 1: Online beoordelingen
Fase 1 bestaat uit 4 online assessments Gebaseerd op spellen en als je daarin succesvol bent, krijg je een uitnodiging voor een video interview. Je krijgt 5 dagen de tijd om de fase van online beoordelingen af te ronden. We raden je echter aan dit zo snel mogelijk te doen, het liefst binnen 3 dagen.
Fase 1: On-demand video interview
- Op basis van jouw score in de Fase 1 Assessments, krijg je mogelijk een uitnodiging voor het Fase 1 On demand video interview (ODVI). Dit duurt zo’n 20 minuten en moet worden afgerond binnen 10 dagen na het ontvangen van de uitnodiging. Dit korte video interview, dat je zelf opneemt, is de kans om je aan ons te presenteren. Je kunt vertellen over jezelf en over je kwalificaties. Daarnaast stellen enkele van onze huidige graduates je een aantal vooraf opgenomen competentiegerichte vragen. Je mag het gesprek opnemen op elke plek waar internet is op het moment dat jou het beste uitkomt. Je krijgt in totaal 5 vragen. Voor elke vraag krijg je 30 seconden de tijd om je voor te bereiden en 3 minuten om het antwoord op te nemen.
- Kies een rustige plek met een goede internetverbinding
- Test je webcam en je microfoon
- Zorg dat de omgeving goed is verlicht en dat je duidelijk zichtbaar bent.

- Denk na over de reden waarom je solliciteert en over je meest in het oog springende ervaringen. Zorg dat je hier op een onderhoudende manier over kunt praten.
Fase 2: Eindbeoordeling
- Test je systeem op de dag voor het gesprek. In de aanloop naar het gesprek kun je voor dit doel onze virtuele gespreksruimte gebruiken.
- Controleer op de Specifications-pagina van HireVue of jouw apparaat voldoet aan de specificaties die voor dit gesprek zijn vereist.
- Neem de tijd om je echt vertrouwd te maken met de casestudy die je van tevoren ontvangt (90 tot 120 minuten moet voldoende zijn).
- Bereid je voor om een presentatie te geven voor je beoordelaars en eventuele vragen van hen te beantwoorden.
- De beoordeling neemt maximaal tweeënhalf uur in beslag. Plan deze sessie van tevoren, zodat je niet wordt gestoord en goed bent voorbereid.
- Tijdens dit gesprek word je niet beoordeeld op je technische kennis. Daarover hoef je je dus geen zorgen te maken. Richt je in plaats daarvan op het tonen van je analytische vaardigheden, motivatie, enthousiasme, besluitvaardigheid en je vermogen om op alle niveaus effectief te communiceren en samen te werken.
- Bereid je voor door informatie te verzamelen over Shell en vertrouwd te raken met de activiteiten, projecten, sites en waarden van Shell.
- Informeer je over de criteria ten aanzien vaardigheden, prestaties en samenwerking die wij gebruiken om kandidaten te beoordelen.
- Denk tijdens het gesprek goed na over de vragen die worden gesteld. Neem even de tijd om je gedachten te ordenen en steek niet gelijk van wal.
- Zorg dat je je antwoorden goed onderbouwt en datgene aantoont waarnaar de beoordelaar op zoek is. Richt je altijd op datgene wat jij hebt gedaan. Wees altijd enthousiast over datgene wat je hebt bereikt.
- Zorg dat je antwoorden betrekking hebben op de vragen die worden gesteld. Geef voldoende achtergrondinformatie, maar zorg dat je daarbij niet van het thema afwijkt.
- Bedenk vooraf enkele vragen die je aan het eind kunt stellen, zodat je het gesprek met een positieve en onderzoekende houding kunt afsluiten.
