Shell Recharge steunt wereldwijde ambitie versnelde invoering (middel)zware voertuigen met nul uitstoot
Shell Recharge onderschrijft vandaag een mondiale intentieverklaring over de versnelde invoering van (middel)zware voertuigen met nul uitstoot. Het heet Drive to Zero en is een initiatief van het Clean Energy Ministerial-forum en wordt mede geleid door non-profit consortium Calstart en de Nederlandse overheid. De ondertekenaars van de intentieverklaring streven ernaar dat in 2030 dertig procent van de verkochte (middel)zware voertuigen geen uitstoot heeft. Dat percentage loopt op tot 100% in 2040.

Met het Drive to Zero-programma, hopen de betrokken partijen andere landen, lokale en regionale overheden, fabrikanten, organisaties en bedrijven aan te sporen zich ook aan het programma te verbinden en bij te dragen aan de transitie.
Cruciaal voor de wereldeconomie
Istvan Kapitany, executive vice-president Shell Mobility: “Hoewel de elektrificatie van auto’s en bestelwagens in veel markten al in volle gang is, is middelzwaar en zwaar wegvervoer een veel moeilijker sector om uitstoot in te verminderen. Daarom is een aanzienlijke en gecoördineerde inspanning nodig om de uitstoot van deze belangrijke voor de wereldeconomie cruciale sector, af te bouwen.”
Snelladers voor e-trucks
Shell opereert al langer in de geest van Drive to Zero. Zo werd in Nederland in november Eindhoven Acht geopend. Dat is het eerste truckstation in Nederland met alle vormen van energie voor onderweg: snelladers voor e-trucks, bio-LNG, hernieuwbare diesel en traditionele brandstoffen. Ook plaatst Shell steeds vaker snelladers direct bij logistieke bedrijven.

Shell Recharge supports global ambition to accelerate the introduction of medium- and heavy-duty vehicles with zero emissions
Shell Recharge endorsed a global Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to accelerate the introduction of medium- and heavy-duty vehicles with zero emissions. It is called Drive to Zero and is an initiative of the Clean Energy Ministerial forum, and is co-led by non-profit consortium Calstart and the Dutch government. The signatories of the MoU are aiming for 30% of the newly sold medium- and heavy-duty vehicles being zero emissions by 2030, and 100% by 2040.
With the Drive to Zero programme, the parties involved hope to encourage other countries, local and regional authorities, manufacturers, organisations and companies to commit to the programme as well, and contribute to the energy transition.
Crucial to the global economy
Istvan Kapitany, Executive Vice President of Shell's global Mobility business: "While the electrification of cars and vans is already well underway in many markets, medium and heavy road transport is a much more difficult sector to reduce emissions in. Therefore, a significant and coordinated effort is needed to reduce emissions from this crucial sector to the global economy."
Fast chargers for e-trucks
Shell has operating in the spirit of Drive to Zero for some time. In the Netherlands, for example, Eindhoven Acht was opened in November. This is the first truck station in the Netherlands with all forms of energy for the commercial road transport: fast chargers for e-trucks, bio-LNG, renewable diesel, and traditional fuels. Moreover, Shell is increasing the speed in which it installs fast chargers directly at logistic company sites.
