Onderhoudsstop Shell Moerdijk start medio April

Shell Moerdijk voert vanaf midden april de komende maanden groot onderhoud uit aan een aantal van de fabrieken. We gaan ze van binnen en buiten inspecteren, schoonmaken en verbeteren. Zo investeren we nog meer in veiligheid en efficiëntie. Veel bedrijven - ook uit uw naaste omgeving - zijn betrokken bij deze grote onderhoudsstop.
Uit veiligheidsoverwegingen moet Shell Moerdijk bij het stopzetten en opstarten van de fabrieken een enkele keer extra fakkelen. Vooral aan het begin en aan het eind van de onderhoudsstop verwachten wij extra fakkelaanbod. Deze momenten worden vooraf op de website aangekondigd. Op de piek van de werkzaamheden verwachten wij dat er zo’n 2.000 medewerkers extra op onze locatie aan het werk zijn. Dit kan leiden tot extra verkeersdrukte op de wegen rondom Shell Moerdijk. We hebben meerdere toegangspoorten geopend zodat het verkeer zich automatisch over de twee afritten naar het haven- en industrieterrein verspreidt en de drukte op de toegangswegen wordt beperkt.
Hoewel wij ons uiterste best doen om de overlast zoveel mogelijk te beperken, is het helaas mogelijk dat u hiervan hinder ondervindt. Alle medewerkers van Shell Moerdijk bieden u hiervoor bij voorbaat hun excuses aan.
Volgens planning zijn de werkzaamheden half juni afgerond en zijn deze fabrieken weer klaar voor de toekomst.
Wat is eigenlijk een onderhoudsstop?
De installaties op het terrein van Shell Moerdijk worden iedere dag zorgvuldig en veilig onderhouden. Om geen productieverlies te lijden gebeurt dat bij voorkeur als de fabrieken in bedrijf zijn. Voor groot onderhoud moet een fabriek echter van tijd tot tijd worden stilgelegd. In vakjargon wordt dan gesproken van een turnaround of onderhoudsstop.
Zo’n stop is een grote, complexe operatie waarbij veel mensen betrokken zijn, ook van buiten de Shell-organisatie. Een stop blijft meestal niet onopgemerkt door de omgeving. Duizenden extra mensen zijn gedurende de stop op en rond het terrein aanwezig.

With the maintenance stop on the 18th of April we will invest in our plants to guarantee safe and reliable operations in even more energy-efficient ways.

You can’t do a major stop like this on your own. At peak times we expect an additional 2,000 people on our site Together with these people we’re going to carry out around 750,000 hours of work.

During the stop we want to limit any disturbance to our surroundings as best we can. We do this, for instance, by using buses to reduce traffic on the access roads.
