Shell verlegt horizon met nieuwe fornuizen
TRANSCRIPT SHELL Moerdijk Lower Olefins animatie
Duur: 01:26
Achtergrondmuziek: Energetic Optimistic
00:00:00
[audio] Achtergrondmuziek wordt gestart.
00:00:00 --> 00:00:04
[tekst] Shell Moerdijk investeert in een duurzamere toekomst
00:00:04 --> 00:00:11
00:00:11 --> 00:00:22
00:00:22 --> 00:00:30
00:00:30 --> 00:00:35
[audio] We blijven voortdurend innoveren en investeren in Shell Moerdijk.
00:00:35 --> 00:00:37
[audio] We gaan nu onze kraker moderniseren.
00:00:37 --> 00:00:43
00:00:42 --> 00:00:56
00:00:56 --> 00:01:03
00:01:03 --> 00:01:10
00:01:10 --> 00:01:16
00:01:16 --> 00:01:22
00:01:22 --> 00:01:26
[beeld] Wit scherm met Shell logo
[audio] Muziek wordt langzaam zachter.

[Voice of Hans Verheyde]
We are standing here at the Westelijke Randweg where we are fitting our wastewater pipeline with a new liner.
The wastewater discharge pipe is a concrete pipe with an inside diameter of 600 millimeters.

Wide shot of Moerdijk terrain with a truck and two cars and a worker in PPE walking towards the camera from a distance.
[Voice of Hans]
The pipeline drains the waste water from the site and transports it over a length of 4 km to the pressure station of the ’Waterschap Brabantse Delta’. From there it is pumped further to the purification plant in Waarde for further cleaning.
For unplanned maintenance we had to keep 2,1 km of wastewater discharge pipeline out of use.
Therefore 2 bypass pipelines are installed. With the inspection results and with the bypass in place we had the opportunity to improve the reliability and lifespan of the pipeline as well as the inspection capability. We considered a lot of options: a new pipeline, above ground or underground,
[Video footage]
Medium shot of Hans Verheyde talking to the interviewer looking alongside the camera.
[Hans]
even installing a new pipe through the existing concrete one. These options were balanced against various criteria.
[Video footage]

Close-up of pipe being relined by a worker in the well. Medium shot of the three workers looking and pointing at the well that is being relined. Medium shot of the worker in the well who is relining the pipe.
[Voice of Hans]
Eventually we have chosen for a so-called ‘sock’ relining because of a shorter turnaround time,
less digging work thus less nuisance for the neighbours and lower costs.
Eventually we have chosen to work with Strukton...
[Video footage]
Medium shot of Hans Verheyde talking to the interviewer looking alongside the camera.

And this is what that looks like…
Thanks to this we do not need to be on site to do our work and that is very important to us.
During a maintenance job for example, if we want to know how many scaffolds we need, we can just find out from behind our desks.

For Shell, electrification is very important. It fits well within the theme of energy transition.
So what we are doing is replacing steam turbines,

and in the future maybe even gas turbines, with machines that are driven by electricity.
This way we are transitioning from molecules to electrons. The main advantage is that we can eliminate our steam consumption. This means a significant reduction in costs, but more importantly, instead of steam we are able to use electricity which can be generated
from renewables.

Omgeving Moerdijk
Shell Energy and Chemicals Park Rotterdam
